Good gracious gravy, there's been a lot going on and I've barely had time to tell you! A friend says that instead of resolutions he makes intentions and that's what I'd like to do this month... I intend to post every day. And the first post of this month relates to free resources available to poets... https://www.poetryfoundation.org/harriet-books/2023/03/poetry-month-2023
Use the heck out of it!
I intend also to tell you about an event in the last few months and to create a writing prompt from it. In March, we had Teen Book Fest in Rossford, Ohio, where we used all kinds of pictures, papers and text to create collage poems. And we had an incredible spoken word poetry contest which Olivia DuPont won... congratulations to this Oregon, Ohio teen for performing a heartfelt and stark piece of original poetry!
Here's your first prompt... imagine (or remember) being 12 years old. Pick a normal day. Where are you? What does your room look like? Your school? Your best friend? Remember something you worried about then. Why? Did you ever share that fear? When did it fade?
Write a story or a sonnet about it.
(Here's another pic from the event...)
I am diving into my childhood, in the name of recovery, so this prompt really speaks to me. I am going to give it a try. Thanks again.
